History of the Original Vehicle

The M1130 Stryker Command Vehicle (CV) is a specialised command-and-control variant of the Stryker family of eight-wheeled armoured vehicles, designed to provide commanders with a mobile battlefield headquarters capable of operating alongside fast-moving infantry and armoured units.

The Stryker programme was developed during the late 1990s and early 2000s as part of the U.S. Army’s effort to create a highly mobile force that could deploy quickly while maintaining a level of protection and battlefield awareness between light infantry and heavy armoured formations.

Based on the LAV III armoured vehicle platform, the Stryker family introduced a range of specialised variants designed for different battlefield roles.
