The German 3-Ton 4x2 Cargo Truck was one of the backbone logistics vehicles of the Wehrmacht during the Second World War. Based on commercial truck designs produced by manufacturers such as Opel, Mercedes-Benz and Büssing-NAG, these vehicles were adapted for military service and used extensively across every theatre of the conflict.

Capable of carrying up to three tonnes of cargo, these trucks transported everything from ammunition, fuel and food to engineering equipment and replacement parts. They also served as troop transports, towing vehicles for light artillery and support platforms for specialist equipment, making them an indispensable part of Germany's military logistics network.

Although lacking all-wheel drive, the 4x2 configuration offered good performance on roads and prepared tracks while remaining mechanically simple and easy to maintain. In difficult terrain, they often relied on careful route planning or support from half-tracks and recovery vehicles, but their reliability and widespread availability ensured they remained in constant use throughout the war.

German 3-ton trucks accompanied the Wehrmacht during campaigns in Poland, France, North Africa, the Soviet Union and Western Europe. Their ability to keep frontline units supplied with essential equipment and provisions was critical to sustaining military operations, highlighting the vital role of logistics in modern warfare.

Today, these vehicles are recognised as an important part of Germany's wartime transport fleet.
